Professors from the University of Murcia share their experiences of collaboration with Chinese universities (04/03/2019)

The University of Murcia, through the vice-rectorship of Internationalization, has held the Conference on the dynamization of relations UMU-People's Republic of China, with the aim of promoting the links of professors and researchers with this Asian country.

In these days, held in the faculty of Veterinary on March 1, have served for teachers and heads of centers and research groups of the UMU that already maintain relations with Chinese universities could share their experiences and ideas of collaboration with other teachers of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of Internationalization, Senena Corbalán, presented a summary of the contacts and relationships that the University of Murcia has consolidated with 9 Chinese universities, as a result of the institutional trip of the delegation of the UMU to China held last October .

With 15-minute presentations, 7 professors from the UMU from different areas have shared the keys and experiences of their collaborations with universities in China: Pablo Artal with Central South University (CSU), Victoriano Garre with Shandong University of Technology (SUT), Carmen Castelo and Verónica del Haro with Communication University of China (CUC) and Samuel Baixauli and Marcos Antón with Antai College of Economics and Management (SJTU).

Also participating was Professor Manuel Pérez, a graduate in history from the University of Murcia and currently a professor in the History Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

All the speakers agreed on the high motivation, preparation and projection of the Chinese students and the departments with which they collaborate.

They also highlighted the growth of these universities and their position in the world rankings, and commented on the possibilities of financing by the Chinese government and local and regional administrations.

Finally, Matías Balibrea of ​​the International Relations and Mar Sojo Area of ​​OPERUM, presented the possibilities of research and collaboration projects with the Asian country and the support of the Vice-rector for Internationalization to ensure that the teaching and research collaboration initiatives can become cases of success.

During these days, on Thursday, February 28, Professor Manuel Pérez García gave a seminar on applied economics under the title 'GECEM Project Database: State Capacity, Overseas Trade and Consumption in Qing China and Imperial Spain (1680-1796)', in the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UMU.
