Serrano informs the mayor of his willingness to share socialist proposals to tackle air pollution in the municipality (01/03/2019)

The candidate for the Mayor of Murcia addressed to Ballesta in writing to warn him of his concern about the episodes suffered since Christmas and the urgent need to take action on the matter "because the situation will improve if we invest with courageous measures"

The mayoral candidate of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, has addressed by letter to the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, to show his willingness to share with him the measures developed by the Socialists to combat air pollution in the municipality, since, "As we are checking, it is not a sporadic and occasional situation, but it is becoming chronic because the episodes are repeated week after week since Christmas."

In the aforementioned letter, Serrano shows his concern, above all, for the serious consequences for the health of citizens of overcoming pollution levels.

In this regard, remember that at Christmas and proposed a specific measure that has been applauded from different sectors, especially from the environmental group, and that is to offer free bus to residents on days of pollution.

"Of course it is not a single response, we must have a rigorous plan with decisive measures, as well as courageous, in order to address this situation that is becoming too frequent," he explains in the letter.

For Serrano, "the excuse of the meteorological situation highlights the lack of concrete measures to alleviate or eliminate pollution problems caused by vehicle traffic." The anticyclone is not the cause but the demonstration that it is not being implemented no action or, at least, that is not being efficient. "

In addition, he adds that, "as the days pass and I do not perceive short-term answers, I am at the disposal of the City of Murcia, as an institution that represents and defends our neighbors, to share the proposals we have developed", because "the health of Our citizens are above all and, if we do not stop this situation, it will become chronic and much more difficult to solve, so we can not wait a month or a week to take decisive measures. "

In this regard, he states that "it is very important to have measuring stations to know exactly the starting point, because, as I have been able to verify, there are days when we do not have data, therefore, without a previous realistic analysis it is very difficult to find the most appropriate response. "

For the socialist candidate, the situation "exceeds the political differences, so we must be consistent and make decisions agreed and energetic" and, "if necessary, we could hold a meeting to adopt those measures that are already urgent and require support and firmness. "
