The Popular Municipal Group has supported a joint motion, with the rest of the political groups, on the implementation of an experimental telecommuting project in the municipal administration.
The Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, explained that "teleworking contains the principles and values ​​on which the company of tomorrow will be based: efficiency, results orientation, reconciliation of family and work life, ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and sustainable development ".
José Guillén has highlighted "teleworking is a technically viable work model for the City of Murcia, with economic and social benefits for this Administration and its staff, and that would reduce, among others, costs of material and travel, generating equipment for It also promotes diversity and the integration of more vulnerable groups such as the disabled ".
"From the Department of Administration Modernization we will initiate a study of the pilot experience of teleworking preparing its articulation with the departments of human resources and information and communication technologies, approving its regulation with the representatives of the municipal employees and in the organ collegiate government "has informed the mayor.
"To carry out this pilot initiative, the City Council must regulate jointly with the representatives of the municipal employees, the scope of application, requirements, number of participants, the authorization criteria, the duration of the project, the distribution of the working day and the follow-up and control of the work developed and the schedule, in addition, the technical equipment and the use of necessary electronic means must be taken into account ".
"In Murcia City Council, in a manner managed by the Information Technology Service of this Modernization Department, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection system is already being used to the corporate data communications network. can be considered as a first experience of telework that is being carried out by the City of Murcia, is currently used by more than 30 companies that are connected to perform maintenance tasks of municipal information systems and by more than 10 municipal employees and computer technicians for remote resolution of incidents, "said the councilor.
In order to develop this initiative "it has to evolve with the creation in the corporate computer servers of a desktop virtualization platform or Remote Desktop Services system that allows access to the computer applications that are determined to be accessible by teleworkers and facilitate advanced functions to share units or peripherals ".
