The Murcia City Council has been distinguished in the Bikefriendly Awards, specifically in the 'Sprinter' second prize, to recognize the merit of the effort carried out during the last two years to develop and implement measures to promote the use of the bike.
Likewise, Murcia has also stood out for its cycling infrastructure.
In this case, the city has been awarded in the category that rewards the design and implementation of infrastructures and / or services necessary to ensure cycling through the city in a fast, safe, comfortable, coherent and intuitive way (bike lanes, parking, accessibility to buildings, maintenance points ...).
In this case, the distinction received is third place, after Valencia and Palmar / AMB.
The Bikefriendly Awards, promoted by the Bicycle Cities Network, also have four other categories: leadership and institutional commitment, education and promotion, bicieconomy and 'Innova' second prize.
The ruling, released today, has assessed the 39 applications submitted by the cities, which shows the effort being made by municipalities to promote the use of bicycles as a means of urban transport.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 4 in Bilbao.
