Work begins with Red.es to turn Murcia into a national benchmark in Smart City (23/02/2019)

"All these advances that we are implementing are part of our effort to modernize the administration, improve the quality of life of Murcia and make the smart city project to give more and better services," said José Guillén

The Councilor for the Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, who is in charge of the municipal team of the Murcia Smart City Office, has held a meeting with the work team of the Public Business Entity Red.es, under the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, to begin the development of the Smart City Program and Digital Agenda in the city of Murcia.

The smart city project 'MiMurcia' has been recognized by Red.es as the most ambitious of all Spain compared to a total of 111 cities, with a budget of 8 million euros.

To date, a total of 78% of the planned investment for Smart City actions has been tendered, amounting to 11.3 million euros financed by the state and local administrations.

The City Council and Red.es are working together in the development of communication and connectivity of the 'MiMurcia' project.

An open communication will be carried out, focused on the concepts of transparency and citizen participation, resolutive, aimed at facilitating and streamlining all administrative and sustainable procedures, focused on the effective management of all municipal resources and services (improving management irrigation, waste collection, lighting, parking, mobility ... etc).

Some of the actions that are going to be carried out to develop the project are the realization of a contest of ideas in which municipal and citizen professionals participate, rewarding the most effective and innovative ones or visits to schoolchildren and students at CEUS, the Unique Monitoring Center.

The communication plan is also based on informing about social innovation, which will allow citizens to improve their quality of life.

Information technologies will be applied to areas such as tourism, culture or commerce.

The objective of the communication campaign of this project is to inform the residents of Murcia of all the steps that are being taken to get a Smart City.

With this, technological advances will be put at the service of people to improve their quality of life.

This campaign will be carried out based on the principles of accessibility to reach all sectors of the population.
