The City Council will call 136 local police posts this year (20/02/2019)

The General Negotiating Table approved the bases of the 80 new positions, which are a consequence of the advance of retirement age of the agents of the Corps at age 59, which add to the 56 places already called.

This is the second call for oppositions to the Local Police by the Government of José Ballesta and the most important in the Region.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for the Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, and the Councilor for Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, Lola Sánchez, today presided over the act of homage to the Local Police officers who are retiring this year, an occasion that the mayor wanted to take advantage of to inform about the new call for agent places in the municipality of Murcia, which will take place this year.

"There will be a total of 136 new places to reinforce security in the neighborhoods and districts of Murcia, between the 56 already closed and the 80 that are the result of advancing the retirement age to 59 years," said José Ballesta.

The General Negotiating Table unanimously approved last Monday the two bases of the calls for the 80 new places (64 for the free turn and 16 for the mobility - they can be chosen by agents from other municipalities in the Region).

It will be this next Friday when the bases are submitted to the approval of the Governing Board.

Once it is published, the deadline for applications will be opened and the corresponding tests will take place this summer (end of June / beginning of July).

This is the second convocation to the Local Police Corps carried out by the City of Murcia in the last two years, after more than a decade and the most important in the Region, for which the workforce will be reinforced with a total of 650 agents .

The new places correspond to the 80 Murcian agents who retire this year progressively, accepting their right after the approval of the Royal Decree that regulates the early retirement of Local Police agents, a measure that, in the whole of Spain , will affect approximately 76,000 professionals.

Tribute to police who retire

Precisely this morning has been an act of tribute to Local Police who are retiring this year, under the royal decree.

Among the agents who leave the corps are three women who joined the staff in 1981, in the first promotion that had female applicants.

The Mayor has delivered for the first time a portfolio with a plaque of 'retired police'.
