"In Murcia, it is essential to carry out the Shadow Plan to guarantee the health of our neighbors and create conditioned and safe spaces," said José Guillén.

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development directed by José Guillén, has installed innovative shading systems in more than thirty parks and gardens over the past three years.

The Service of Parks and Gardens continues giving answer to the requests realized by the families and neighbors, that demand the extension of the surfaces with shade in the spaces of leisure in the open air.

"We work so that children can play throughout the year, protected from solar radiation and high temperatures." The parks and gardens are leisure and meeting areas for families Murcia, so it is essential that they are properly conditioned to be able to enjoy them at any time of the year, in Murcia it was necessary to carry out this Shadow Plan to guarantee the health of our neighbors and create conditioned and safe spaces ", highlighted José Guillén.

To do this, the Park and Garden Service combines the most modern covering systems-pergolas and micro-perforated tensile structures that reduce the temperature of the game area by several degrees-with the natural shade projected by large trees, providing an average of 100m2 of shadow in each children's play area.

Among the thirty new shaded areas of the municipality include the Parque Fofó, an area of more than 100 square meters placed in Torreagüera and another more than 160 meters in the garden of the Three Cups.

In addition, each and every one of the new children's play areas that are projected are designed with previous shadow study that guarantees, at least, 50% of space protected from the sun's rays on its entire surface.
