The Governing Board has approved the granting of subsidies for the acquisition of a motor vehicle adapted for people with disabilities in order to continue working to improve the accessibility of public transport in the municipality.
Thus, six taxi drivers will receive 27,700 euros as aid for having renewed their car during the past year.
Taxi drivers who have purchased a new adapted vehicle and who have received this subsidy will not be able to avail themselves of another aid to renew their car for up to four years, except in the case of an accident resulting in a total loss.
These aids are added to those also granted by the Department of Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility to taxi drivers with vehicles adapted to finance increases in operating costs, such as fuel consumption, cost of ramp repairs, safety harness and change of wheels, as well as compulsory repair and insurance services for travelers.
Murcia currently has 42 adapted taxis, which represents 17% of the total fleet.
