Murcia becomes Spanish capital of the debate during this weekend (08/02/2019)

Murcia this weekend welcomes university students from all over Spain in the VI parliamentary debate tournament, organized thanks to the collaboration between the UMU Debate Club, the Murcia City Council and the University of Murcia.

This VI Debate Tournament BP 'Ciudad de Murcia' will make the city the Spanish capital of debate from today and until Sunday.

The more than 30 participating teams and judges will arrive this afternoon for the opening of the Tournament in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Law.

The main rounds of competition will be held throughout Saturday in the classrooms of La Merced and on Sunday 11 will be the time of the semifinal (Moneo Building) and the grand final, which opens new headquarters this year: the Archaeological Museum of Murcia ( MAM).

Before the grand final, the rookie final will also take place, which will encumber the best new team.

The University of Murcia was one of the pioneers in Spain in launching this type of event.

Four teams of two people organized in Government-Opposition and Upper-Lower Chamber debate in a room motions that can go from international relations to the economy, through politics or bioethics.

This year, the City of Murcia Parliamentary Debate Tournament, one of the decanas competitions of the national scene reaches its sixth edition and becomes the starting signal for the World Cup, which will be held in August in Peru.

The Head of the Adjudication Team -who is in charge of putting the topics of debate and coordinating the judges- will be the Galician Carlota Noguerol, recognized Spanish debater who has developed most of her career in the English circuit of Opens.

In these tasks, Noguerol will be accompanied by the best speaker in the world (2017), Aida González, by the world debate champion (2018), Carmen Vallecillo, by the Criminal Law professor Margarita Bonet, as well as by the ICADE Francisco professor Valiente and the Murcian lawyer and debate runner-up 2015, Sergio Melero.
