Students of the University of Murcia learn to recycle used clothing with an Abraham Project workshop (07/02/2019)

The University Social Center of the University of Murcia, on the Espinardo campus, became a sewing and recycling workshop on Wednesday afternoon at the Abraham Project Foundation.

This activity, which is part of the program of activities ODS sessions, tries to transmit to society the idea that a sustainable model of consumption and fashion is possible.

The workshop was given by women who are part of the 'El cosurerico' project, thanks to which a second life is given to the clothes donated by Murcian families and left in the containers that are on the street.

It is an initiative that pursues the labor insertion of women and the social awareness that clothes can have a second life.

Those who passed through the workshop could learn some techniques and took home very practical ideas to design their own costumes at zero cost.

ODSsesiones is the project of the University of Murcia for promotion and awareness of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

From January to April 2021, the University will dedicate one month to each of these objectives with outreach activities, play, training and solidarity.

The first of these months dedicated to the SDGs is February and is revolving around the goal of ending poverty.
