Now Murcia will ask in the plenary the urgent redaction of the census of Francoist vestiges in the municipality, to urge its early withdrawal (07/02/2019)

-The spokeswoman of Ahora Murcia, Alicia Morales, will ask in the February municipal plenary session "that the Catalog of Francoist Vestiges of the municipality be prepared, in compliance with the Law of Historical Memory", as the Ministry of Justice has been demanding through of its General Directorate

The municipal training urges the government team to expedite the procedures to remove the Francoist appellations that continue to appear in the municipal official street map, as well as to remove the vestiges of the dictatorship that are still present in neighborhoods and districts

The municipal group NOW MURCIA will present in the next municipal plenary session a motion for the City Council of Murcia to draft the Catalog of Francoist Vestiges of the municipality, as it is included in article 15 of the Law of Historical Memory.

Now Murcia will raise this proposal to full compliance with the provisions of the Law of Historical Memory and, thereby, definitively remove the vestiges of the dictatorship that are still present in neighborhoods and districts, as well as official and electronic documentation of the municipal website .

The municipal training emphasizes that, even streets that were already approved to be removed in the Street Commission, they continue to appear in the municipal web page, in breach of the agreements of the full committee and of the City Council itself, as well as the Law of Historical Memory, in addition to confusing neighbors, visitors and users of the website Murcia.es

Alicia Morales, spokesperson for the municipal group, stressed that "the municipal commission in charge of the Historical Memory should streamline its work, since it is not a receipt that almost four years later, we are still with all these outstanding works".

In this line, Morales has stressed that "should not postpone the writing of the Catalog of Francoist Vestiges, and the City must collaborate with the Ministry of Justice sending such catalog to as soon as possible."

For this reason, the training has been directed to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) as well as to the Ministry of Justice, on which the General Directorate of Historical Memory depends, to request reports on compliance with the Law of Historical Memory, as well as all those documents exchanged with the Regional Government and with the City of Murcia.

Finally, from the training has been stated that "it is not receipt that more than 11 years after the approval of the Law of Historical Memory, continue to be present in our streets, squares, public spaces and mountains, elements that violate current legislation and that they extol the dictatorship and the Francoist coup d'état ".
