The University of Murcia presents the week 'Cultura Es +' (04/02/2019)

The University of Murcia has presented on Monday the activities scheduled in the week 'Culture Es +', which will take place from 4 to 8 February.

The program includes debate, music, poetry, theater, cinema, comics, dance, visual arts and humanities.

On February 4 and 5 an activity combining drawing and reading will be held in the convalescent building through the play 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

A comic book workshop and the reading of fragments of the work in different languages ​​will take place around the novel.

Also scheduled is the workshop 'Jam Session Dance', open to musicians and dancers that will take place on 4 and 6 February at the Espinardo Campus under the direction of Juan Antonio Saorín.

On February 5 and 6, Andrés Boluda and Catalina Tudela will give a pottery workshop at the University Museum.

In addition, the theater hall Concha Lavella (Campus de la Merced) will host the performance, by students of the theatrical training workshop, of 'The awakening of the spring', by Frank Wedekind, directed by Manuel Ortín

On the other hand, on February 6, the Museum of Fine Arts will host the presentation of the book of poetry 'De aurigas inmortales', by the professor of Spanish-American Literature Vicente Cervera.

On the 7th and 8th, the book 'The Cartoon in the Modern World' will be presented by the Marmotilla publishing house, the UMU Museum and the University Social Center.

In addition, the program includes musical performances by the orchestra and the university choir and tournaments and leagues by the Debate Club of the University of Murcia.

Paco Caballero, coordinator of the Culture Service, has explained the structure of the service in different thematic classrooms and has made it clear that the will that exists is to propose activities for the university community, especially for students.

In this way, "may participate not only as spectators, but they will have a proactive role in the development of activities," he said.

The coordinator also stressed that the Culture Service, as a novelty over previous years, considers the realization of long-distance projects, as well as the maintenance of the classic prizes of Painting, Photography and Poetry 'Dionisia García', which this year commemorate its nineteenth, eighteenth and seventeenth edition, respectively.

As a novelty, it will include a prize for photographic production that has the collaboration of 'The Red Chamber', directed by David de Flores and Silvia Marte.

Finally, Paco Caballero has confirmed that work is being done on the call for new prizes that include music, performing arts and comics.
