15 triples are not enough to win in Galicia (03/02/2019)

The UCAM Murcia faced Day 19 of the Endesa League traveling to Galician lands to face Monbus Obradoiro.

Those of Santiago de Compostela (7V 11D) wanted to add the eighth victory that led them away from the relegation zone against a university team that was premiering a coach.

The Murcia (5V 13D), already with Sito Alonso on the bench, wanted to end the losing streak in national competition (7) and exit the relegation zone.

Sito Alonso went out on the track at the Multiusos Fontes Do Sar with a score and physical quintet -Booker, Doyle, Rojas, Soko and Tumba- with which the Madrid coach looked for the first advantages of the game through the defense.

However, it would be the great success from beyond the perimeter the factor that would put the Murcia team ahead after 5 minutes of play (9-12).

However, if there was a man plugged in it was Albert SĂ bat (9 points), who with three consecutive triples equaled the game for the locals in a physically demanding first quarter.

The almost perfect defense of the university team was countered by a high percentage in triples of Moncho Fernández (55% with 5/9) who left the game tied after the first ten minutes (23-23).

The set of Sito Alonso entered the second quarter very erratic and with imbalances in defense that allowed Obradoiro to go ten up after just three minutes.

However, Damjan Rudez and Milton Doyle were in charge, after the dead time, to lower the difference and add more wood to the match.

However, the UCAM Murcia quickly entered the bonus due, to a large extent, to its high defensive intensity (6 fouls by 14 local visitors).

Askia Booker, something disappeared in the first period, emerged in the match with 10 points practically consecutive that forced Moncho to stop the game (39-36).

A loss of Rudez in the last second was taken advantage of by Kostas Vasileiadis, man of the game with 15 points, to plug a triple on the horn and send the match to dressing rooms with 48-41 on the scoreboard.

The difference in free throws (17 local for only 3 visitors) and the points of the Greek submachine gun Vasileiadis (15) put the whole of Santiago with +7 advantage after the first part.

Doyle (14 points) and Booker (14 points), with two triples, reduced the advantage of a very successful Galician team beyond 6.75.

However, the third quarter was developing in an ups and downs of emotions and gusts.

If the locals left beyond the ten, the Murcians quickly reduced that difference.

Two very regular last minutes of the UCAM Murcia allowed Sito Alonso to leave the game in a fist with ten minutes remaining (65-61).

The defensive intensity of the set Murcia raised a level at the beginning of the last period and, with a partial of 5-14, tied the game to 8 minutes to the end.

However, the outside shot reappeared in the Galician box in the hands of Simons and David Navarro, who forced Sito to stop the game after a 6-0 partial.

The greater regularity of the premises and Murcia's mistake put the maximum difference of the game (82-69) with three minutes to go.

Finally, victory of Monbus Obradoiro by 91-79 before a UCAM Murcia that adds the 8th consecutive defeat in Liga Endesa.

Very physical match in which the great success of the Murcia from the perimeter (15/31) was not enough to offset the difference of free throws existing in the match (33 locations for only 10 visitors).
