The PSOE asks the City Council, Junta de Hacendados and CHS to fix the damage caused by the rain in the Barrier ditch in La Raya (01/02/2019)

Councilman Enrique Ayuso and the mayor of the hamlet, José Hernández, visit this site and demand that the Administration "take action on the matter" and so will the Socialist Group through a motion to be presented at the Plenary this month February

The Municipal Socialist Group in the City of Murcia, after denouncing the poor condition in which the environment of the main ditch Barreras as it passes through the hamlet of La Raya, specifically in the lane of Relenco, requests the conditioning of the sign on the road that runs parallel to this armlet because there is a risk to the safety of the people who live there and for those who pass through the area.

This is what Ayuso and Hernández have said after stepping on the ground and checking that the lane of the Relenco is sunk all along the side that leads to the ditch along about 200 meters.

The wall of said channel is detached by its lower part, which causes that the effect of the rains, when these are of certain intensity, further sink the road that borders the ditch.

In addition, the security fence that was in this place was detached and there are serious risks of falling for pedestrians and even for vehicles that pass through there.

The proliferation of reeds and debris is present and the socialists also denounce the appropriation of several individuals of the quijeros, so there is no passage for people along one of the sides.

Another deficiency detected is that the wooden bridge that crosses the channel at the height of the train track is broken.

For all this the PSOE, after contacting the municipal boards of the affected districts, will demand in the next plenary session a plan of action for the recovery of the ditches of Murcia that requires coordination between the City Council, the Board of Landowners and the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) to rehabilitate the traditional irrigation network and stop the destruction of this heritage of the Huerta de Murcia.

In that sense, Ayuso has described as "enormous deterioration" those found in the lane of the Relenco and therefore asks the City to "take action on the matter" and require the competent bodies to condition this natural environment and other districts that they are equally affected by "neglect and abandonment" in this ditch like Nonduermas, Aljucer and San Ginés.

"It is our heritage, which we love so much, and we are concerned about its state, so we will continue to demand from the Socialist Group that measures be taken to recover it," he adds.

For his part, José Hernández recalls that since December 2016 they have been demanding the settlement of the Barreras ditch, "but no one is responsible for the matter and the worst of all is that here families with children live in houses that have cracks and We must not allow another rain to affect the already damaged area, something that could have consequences not only for the goods but for the people.
