The Plenary Session of the City of Murcia, has unanimously approved, in its session today, adhesion to the Network of Local Entities for Transparency and Citizen Participation of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
The Board of Governors of the FEMP approved in February 2015, the constitution of the Network of Local Entities for Transparency and Citizen Participation to which today the City of Murcia adheres.
The objective of this initiative is to promote the permanent improvement of the relationship between local governments and citizens under the principles of Open Government and through the exchange of experiences and project development.
It is about strengthening the commitment of the municipalities with honesty and integrity in the institutional management, adapting to the public sphere mechanisms that are increasingly common in the private sphere.
In this same line, the City of Murcia also approved in June 2017, the Transparency Ordinance, the result of consensus, since in addition to having been prepared thanks to the collaboration of all political groups, has been consulted by the Council of the City, Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia, universities, official colleges, municipal boards and associations of neighbors, consumers and users, and has been subjected to a broad process of public exposure.
This action will allow to fulfill the commitment to build an open, efficient and transparent City Council, which provides clear, accessible, updated, structured and reusable information that allows knowing and controlling government action.
For this, the City of Murcia has adopted various measures in this term as the new Transparency Portal, a publication system on the website Murcia.es, in the municipal transparency category, which provides institutional and organizational, legal, economic and budgetary, environmental, urban and infrastructure and public employment.
The web portal 'Participate in transparency' also allows citizens to express their opinions through a public consultation.
Citizens can participate through all the platforms enabled for this at the municipal level, either through e-mail, the Participate in Transparency portal or the Tu Murcia App, a portal where citizens can express their opinion through surveys, make suggestions or present your ideas.
The goal is to make Murcia a Smart City designed for people, which allows them to facilitate their day to day.
In this way, the City Council already has tools such as Electronic Administration, which allows any management 365 days, 24 hours, avoiding queues and travel.
Transparency projects such as Replay are also being carried out, which allows to see the sessions of the Plenary Session of the Murcia City Council and Municipal Boards from any mobile device at any time.
