The University of Murcia and the ASISA Foundation create the Chair of Health Communication (31/01/2019)

The ASISA Foundation and the University of Murcia (UMU) have signed an agreement for the creation of the Chair of Health Communication.

Through it, both entities will establish a space devoted entirely to research, training and dissemination in the field of communication in Health Sciences at all levels, in which both professors and university students and professionals of the sector participate.

The agreement has been signed by the CEO of ASISA, Enrique de Porres and the rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, at an event held yesterday at the UMU Rector's Office and in which the Vice Chancellor of Employment also participated. , Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU Alicia Rubio, of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery Trinidad Herrero, and the vice president of the Governing Council of Lavinia-ASISA and delegate in Murcia, Diego Lorenzo, among others.

During the act of signing, Enrique de Porres pointed out the objectives of the ASISA Foundation, in line with the vocation of ASISA, an entity owned by a cooperative of Spanish doctors.

He stressed the importance of communication, in all areas, between professionals, professionals and patients, families and professionals from different disciplines. "And he stressed" The ability of communication between the health sector and those who are related to it: patients, health, politicians ... ", affirming that" the ability to empathize with those who relate to us is something that is not taught in universities, but that we can contribute in this Chair. "He emphasized the work of ASISA in the Chairs, being this the ninth of those that make up the network of chairs.

Rector Lujan, for his part, expressed the gratitude of the University of Murcia for "the fact that ASISA decides to be our partner in a training and dissemination initiative as important as this one", and congratulated ASISA on promoting this agreement. the hand of the new president of the Academy of Medicine and Surgery of the Region of Murcia Trinidad Herrero, "a researcher of recognized prestige, tireless worker, who will be able to promote this project with the help of the Vice President for Entrepreneurship and Society."

With this Chair, the ASISA Foundation and the University of Murcia reinforce their joint commitment to establish a long-term collaboration in R & D & I activities, transfer of scientific research and dissemination results related to Health Communication.

Objectives and activities

The chair will promote the realization of different activities, among them: establish working contacts with key institutions in the development of Health Communication at various levels (communication with patients and family members, interprofessional communication, communication with the media and in the application of new technologies );

the organization of undergraduate symposiums and training courses, as well as postgraduate training courses;

the preparation of face-to-face, on-line and practical teaching materials that integrate cross-disciplinary training subjects in the different degrees of Health Sciences;

or the preparation of a specific app in a 'serious game' version using augmented and / or virtual reality.

University-company collaboration

With the creation of this new Chair, the UMU advances in its collaboration with different entities to improve the training of its students and strengthen its teaching and research activity to promote innovation and modernization in the field of Health Sciences.

For its part, the ASISA Foundation, a non-profit organization created by the ASISA Group to respond to its social commitment and improve the health and quality of life of people, goes a step further in its vocation to contribute to development of knowledge through the promotion of programs and agreements with the University and with the scientific and research communities.

With this chair, the ASISA Foundation already has a total of nine in different Spanish universities, both public and private, in different autonomous communities.
