Now Murcia denounces the inaction for 20 years of the municipality regarding the accumulation of irregularities on the campus of the UCAM (29/01/2019)

-For Now Murcia the actions of the Department of Urban Planning must ensure effective compliance with current legislation, and protect the safety and physical integrity of the thousands of people who every day go to the Monastery of Jerónimos

-Now Murcia has asked Mayor José Ballesta and Councilman Navarro Corchón how they intend to comply with the orderly closure of two pavilions of private school lecturers and what other measures they will take

The formation Now Murcia denounces the inaction of the municipal government of the PP during 20 years regarding the accumulation of irregularities in the campus of the UCAM, which have led to the order to the private university, known today, of the cessation of activity in two lecture halls by not comply with the necessary activity licenses.

Thus, the City of Murcia gives the reason to the complaints of Now Murcia since 2015, including before the Office of the Prosecutor, and that in June 2018 and requested the closure of buildings that have never had an activity license.

The complaint of Ahora Murcia in the Prosecutor's Office regarding the campus of Los Jerónimos had two aspects.

On the one hand, it showed that one third of the campus was built on non-developable garden land, and therefore lacked the necessary municipal permits.

On the other, that the two aularios now sanctioned had been constructed in an irregular manner thanks to an exceptional authorization, which presented serious irregularities.

From Now Murcia says that "the actions taken by the Department of Urbanism must ensure effective compliance with current legislation, as well as protect the safety and physical integrity of the thousands of people who go every day to the Monastery of Jerónimos."

The municipal training regrets "the damages that the carelessness of the murcian administrations are causing thousands of students and users, staff, teachers and families affected, some damages that would have been avoidable if the City of Murcia and the Autonomous Community had acted all these years with due diligence. "

On the other hand, it has also been known today that regarding the third of the campus of the UCAM built on non-developable garden land, a fine of 12,000 euros is decreed for lacking an urban planning license.

Given this, Now Murcia asks the City Councilor for Planning, Antonio Navarro, about the stingy economic sanction imposed on the UCAM, "that has nothing to do with the amount of sanctions that this Council imposes on the municipality to other companies, entities and natural persons who violate the law because they lack urban licenses ".

The municipal training also asks about the role that the Autonomous Community and the ANECA will play in relation to the teaching activity of the UCAM.
