The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilors, Jesús Pacheco and Rafael Gómez, the president of the Association of Belenistas of Murcia, María José Esteban, and representatives of the Association, today delivered the prizes of the Children's Nativity Competition to a group of primary school children from Federico de Arce and San Pablo schools.

"Today we recognize a job well done, your effort and passion.

You are the first generation of the 21st century and in your drawings you have been able to capture the values ​​that the nativity scene represents: tenderness, humility, fraternity and the common good, "said the mayor, who expressed his gratitude to the Association of Nativity "Women and men who keep alive one of the oldest and most beloved traditions of the municipality of Murcia".

"They say that the nativity scene entered Spain from Italy through Murcia, which was the gateway to the Mediterranean towards the Kingdom of Castile.

That is why they say that our land is the cradle of Bethlehem and we enjoy the legacy of some of the best artists and artisans, "said José Ballesta in his speech in the Plenary Hall.
