657 families received help from the City Council in 2018 to pay the rent for their home (26/01/2019)

The beneficiaries of this call for housing increased by 56% compared to 2017 and 147% over 2016. The budget has grown in equal measure, going from 740,000 euros to 1.1 million euros last year, which means an increase of the budget invested of 51%

The City of Murcia last year increased 51.3% funds allocated by the Housing Service to help families to pay rent and, to a similar extent, the families benefited by these grants.

Thus, in 2018 a total of 657 families had municipal funds to contribute to the payment of their rent, compared to 419 in 2017 and 266 in 2016. In this way, last year in 2018 there was an increase of 56.8% compared to the previous year and 147% over 2016.

Similar increases occurred in the budgets allocated to this objective.

In 2018, budgetary funds increased by 51.3% in relation to 2017 and 114.15% compared to 2016.

The average amount of subsidies per family unit amounts to € 1,704.70, with a maximum amount of € 2,609.

Of the 657 families that benefited last year, 541 - that were distributed aid amounting to 940,000 € - were part of the groups considered preferred:

- Families with weighted income less than 1 of the IPREM

- Single-parent families

- Large families

- Families with a member with a disability or dependence

- Families that come from evictions.

The objective of these economic aids to rent a home is to finance a part of the rent of the tenants of housing in the free market, to groups of families with limited economic resources and in a situation of special vulnerability, in order to facilitate their access to a dwelling and / or guarantee the permanence in the environment where they reside.
