The General Director of Cultural Assets, Juan Antonio Lorca, today held a working meeting with the General Director of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Román Fernández-Baca, to address different issues that concern the cultural and historical heritage of the Region .
Lorca urged that "the Ministry comply with what was announced last May and invest 1.18 million euros in actions to ensure the structural stability of the Castle of Montegudo, thus showing its commitment to continue acting jointly, in collaboration with the Government regional and the City of Murcia, to recover one of the patrimonial referents of our Region;
a fortress that we invite the minister to meet personally in his next visit to the Region. "
The person in charge of Cultural Assets also expressed the need for the Ministry to commit itself to other important projects for the Region, such as the recovery of the Mula Castle, and requested the performance of the state-owned museums whose management is transferred (Museo de Fine Arts of Murcia, Archaeological Museum of Murcia and the Museum of Iberian Art El Cigarralejo de Mula).
"Three museums that are being managed with great results, but in which it is necessary to invest to renovate and improve basic equipment that will help us to disseminate in the best way the cultural and heritage wealth of the Region," he added.
In this sense, Lorca obtained from Fernández-Baca the commitment to invest in museums this year.
