"Science on the big screen" returns (22/01/2019)

The new cycle of Cinefórum 2019 of the Scientific Culture Unit of the University of Murcia (UMU) kicks off.

Next Thursday, January 24, at 6:00 pm, the screening of the film 'Loving Vincent' (2017) will take place at the Café de Ficciones de Murcia.

UMU professor María Abellán Hernández and guest artist Sandra Rayos Alarcón present this feature film about Van Gogh, composed in its entirety by oil paintings.

After the screening a debate will open with the public, where the experts will discuss creativity within science.

This first session aims to undo myths related to this capacity for invention to build a new vision of creative subject.

To bring this concept to a more scientific level, the researcher will address some issues associated with the concept of artist-genius and mad scientist.

The teacher emphasizes that "not only in art, but in different areas of life and knowledge."

María Abellán Hernández is a Doctor in Audiovisual Communication and a teacher at the UMU.

He has participated in summer courses, lectures and conferences related to the art of comics.

Sandra Rayos Alarcón is a graphic designer and video editor who collaborates with various artistic collectives related to performance and literary creation.

This new cycle of Cinefórum 2019 of the Unit of Scientific Culture of the University of Murcia (UMU) aims to bring scientific culture to society.

Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
