Huermur denounces the fall of debris from the centenary house where the professor Simón García died in 1901 (18/01/2019)

Huermur denounces the fall of rubble on the façade of the historic house where the professor Simón García García died, as well as the deplorable state of preservation of this hundred-year-old Murcia building.

The conservationist collective indicates that this property is protected and cataloged with Grade 3 in the catalog of the Special Plan of the Historic-Artistic Center of Murcia, for which they will submit the corresponding complaint to the Murcia City Council and request urgent measures.

Huermur regrets that the Consistory has not been able to observe the poor state in which this building is located for years, as well as that no measures have been taken for its conservation and restoration.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) denounces the recent fall of rubble from the facade of the historic modernist building in the central Simón García street of Murcia, where he died in 1901 Simón García García, PhD in Philosophy and Letters, Degree in Civil and Canon Law, Vice-Director of the Provincial Institute of Murcia, Professor of Geography, Universal History and History of Spain and Academician of the Royal Academy of History.

Huermur has been able to verify in the morning of today how the Local Police has cordoned off the zone, while still they remained in the ground the debris detached on the pavement of the busy street Simón Garci'a, in center full of the capital.

The conservationist collective points out that this historic and well-known Murcian modernist building is protected and cataloged with Grade 3 in the catalog of the Special Plan of the Historic-Artistic Center of Murcia (PECHA), so the corresponding complaint will be filed with the Department of Urbanism , Environment, Water and Vegetable Garden of Murcia City Council, and urgent measures will be requested to avoid ruin.

It has also highlighted the deplorable state of conservation in which this building is so unique for the history of the city, and where in its facades we can find an infinity of cracks, chipping, weeds, etc.

In the same sense, Huermur regrets that the Murcia Consistory and its leaders have not been able to observe the poor state in which this property is for years, and that no measures have been taken for its conservation and restoration.

Finally, Huermur criticizes the worrying and widespread situation of poor condition of the listed buildings and elements of the historic center of the city, which has already reached an unsustainable point, since neither the City of Murcia itself has a rehabilitation plan for the old town, and it seems that the Law of Cultural Heritage and other regulations on the PECHA is adornment on the wall of the Consistory.
