The City of Murcia, through the European Programs Service and the Local Development Agency (ALEM), participates today in a European project funded by the Horizon 2020 Program of the European Union called 'COMPETE4SECAP'.

In this project, a total of 32 municipalities from 8 different European countries will participate, such as Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Italy and Spain.

The main objective is to carry out an energy competition by which electric savings will be measured throughout this year through some changes in human behavior.

"This competition will serve to raise awareness that through our own behavior we can achieve savings of up to 15% of the energy we consume, which is why we consider it a very interesting and important challenge for our city." We will participate with three buildings: Abenarabi, Europe and Local Development Agency, starting in January 2019 and ending in the month of December "informs Jesús Pacheco, Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs.

In the day, in which more than 50 officials will participate, a training in energy savings will be carried out by EuroVértice Consultants, partner company of the project, where municipal employees will be taught the impact on the environment of our energy consumption and guidelines for saving and energy efficiency, which in addition to applying in your workplace, can transfer it to other areas of day to day.

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Vegetable Garden, Antonio Navarro has declared that "the City Council of Murcia participates in this European Project with the aim of reducing energy consumption in municipal buildings, which is why they will be carried out during this year awareness-raising measures, meetings and activities to achieve this objective and thus raise awareness every day more with Climate Change, sustainability and the Environment. Not in vain, the action is part of the actions that this City Council carried out as an active participant in the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy ".
