The Municipal Socialist Group will present a motion at the next Plenary as a step forward in the fight against gender violence.

"We thought that something we had achieved during these last years but the lamentable figures of victims and the sad rise of some regressive policies force us to intensify the fight, for that reason we will use all the means at our disposal to keep alive our contempt before this violence and to keep all women alive. "

For this reason, the socialist councilor Begoña García Retegui has stated that, given the current situation in which both the Law and the State Pact against gender violence are questioned, "nothing and no one will stop us in this fight" , so "it is urgent more than ever to reinforce and continue to value the measures designed in terms of gender violence with the aim of combating male terrorism, the most serious problem currently facing Spanish society and Murcia, which has its breeding ground in a deeply undemocratic culture and education and that starts from the idea of ​​the superiority of man over woman ".

The councilor has declared that "we have no doubt about this unfortunate scourge that our society suffers and for that we will insist a thousand times until we end it." We will do everything in our power to support organizations that work against violence macho, we will be present at all events that are convened, such as tomorrow in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, we will present motions or any other initiative and propose proposals or measures, "and has pointed out that" we will not give respite to the abusers, nor to the bullies or those who cheer them. "

He also added that "this type of terrorism against women does not admit any doubts, nor any discussion" and "from the PSOE we will expose our rejection to all manifestations of such violence, its commitment to the victims and we will declare zero tolerance with the abusers "

In this month's motion, an express rejection of any political position that advocates the elimination or reduction of measures to protect women against sexist violence, as well as the social drama and its consequences for victims, will also be requested. .

In this sense, it is also proposed to reject the adoption of any type of agreement, explicit or implicit, with training that proposes the suppression or reduction of the protection measures for women, thus giving coverage to irresponsible policies that entail a very high risk to aggravate the problem.

Finally, as part of the reinforcement of initiatives to combat this scourge, she is committed to promoting the application of the Law on integral protection measures against gender violence and Law 7/2007, of April 4, for Equality between Women and Men, and protection against gender violence in the Region of Murcia in coordination with all public authorities.
