The Association of Merchants of the neighborhood of El Carmen, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and Institutional Relations and the Department of Economic Promotion, Cultures and European Programs, has organized a contest to choose the mascot that represents this entity.
In this initiative, artists, designers and all those interested, residents of the Region of Murcia and over 18 years old, who transmit with their design the commercial identity of the neighborhood based on the commitment to local trade, trust and proximity, will be able to participate. the spirit, idiosyncrasy and charisma of El Carmen and its neighbors, and a fresh, fun and up-to-date image.
The first finalist will be awarded 1,000 euros, the second with 200 and the third with 100.
The presentation of the designs will be done in two-dimensional format, in color and with a size of DIN-A3 3 and in some visible part of the mascot the logo of the Merchants Association of El Carmen Neighborhood should appear, so that it is easily identifiable
In addition, it will be taken into account that the design, in addition to its graphic aspect, has the capacity to be corporeal and suitable for movement in three dimensions.
The projects will accompany one or several name proposals for the pet.
The design of the mascots submitted to the contest must reflect the spirit, idiosyncrasy and charisma of the neighborhood of El Carmen and its neighborhood.
In this sense, the pet should aspire to become a beloved character for children and adults, with a friendly, fresh and fun image, which awakens the interest and empathy of the neighbors of the neighborhood.
The deadline to submit proposals begins today and will run until February 14.
The submitted work must be delivered in a sealed envelope with the inscription 'Pet Contest' along with a photocopy of the Participant's ID, the telephone number and the name proposal for the pet, at the headquarters of the Association of Merchants of the Neighborhood del Carmen (c / Alameda de Capuchinos, 32).
After the registration deadline, the works will be exhibited in the exhibition hall of the Cultural Center of El Carmen from February 18 to 22.
The visiting public of the sample may cast a vote in favor of their favorite proposal and include it in an urn placed inside the room.
On February 22, the jury will meet, which will be made up of different professionals from the world of arts, design and culture, to deliberate and choose the winning candidates, taking into account the work most voted by the public of the exhibition.
The jury's decision will be made public on the morning of February 25.

The Councilor for Trade and Institutional Relations, Maruja Pelegrín, has indicated that "with this initiative we intend to promote the sales of the establishments of the association and promote one of the most emblematic commercial areas of the municipality."
For his part, the councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesus Pacheco, has encouraged "all artists and designers of Murcia to participate in this contest as their work will come alive and will last over the years" .
