The XXXI Encuentro de Cuadrillas returns to become a multitudinous event around folklore and Murcian gastronomy (13/01/2019)

The Mayor, along with a broad representation of the Municipal Corporation, has assisted in Patiño to the performance of the crews and the subsequent tasting of the popular turkey balls with broth.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, has been honored by the Peña La Hijuela with his badge of honor.

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by a broad representation of the Municipal Corporation, has attended one more year the traditional Encuentro de Cuadrillas, which today celebrates its XXXI edition, organized by the Peña 'La Hijuela'.

As always happens in this traditional event around folklore, local traditions and gastronomy, thousands of Murcians have joined the residents of Patiño and together they have shared a huge festive day.

Before the lunch, the assistants - who, as always, overflowed the capacity of the square of the church of Patiño - enjoyed the interventions of the gangs, with their musical performances and dances, both of the members of the groups and of spontaneous that added to the dances.

On this occasion, groups from La Albatalía-Arboleja, Raiguero (Totana), Sangonera la Verde, Vélez Rubio (Almería), Marina Cope (Águilas), Aledo and Patiño participated.

In the course of the proceedings, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, has been honored by the Peña La Hijuela with his badge of honor, in recognition of his work to promote the traditions and demonstrations huertanas.

More than 100,000 turkey balls

In addition to witnessing the performances of the crews, attendees were able to taste more than 100,000 turkey balls, accompanied by good broth, a delicacy that can not be missed in this annual event.

For this, 111 patiñeros and patiñeras, distributed in 15 groups, elaborate and offer a unique food of the Murcian gastronomy, elaborated with affection and mastery by the women of the parish, giving again example of the generosity of the people of Patiño.
