Change Murcia calls for a pruning treatment protocol that helps to avoid contamination (09/01/2019)

Sergio Ramos, councilman of Cambiemos Murcia, today asked the Government Team of the City of Murcia to comply with what was agreed a year ago in the Plenary and put in place "as soon as possible" a protocol for the treatment of prunings that contribute to avoid episodes of atmospheric pollution such as those that have occurred in recent weeks in the municipality.

Since the municipal training recalled that the burning, abundant in winter, aggravate pollution problems, with the impact that this has on public health, as well as suppose a loss of organic matter that "with good management could bring quality to the soil ", both in the plantations themselves and in the most degraded areas.

As explained in the motion of Cambiemos Murcia, drafted by its sector of Huerta and City Model, there are many Consistories that have launched initiatives like this, either lending domestic shredders to neighbors who choose to generate their own compost, such as by transporting the pruning remains to centralized facilities for large-scale treatment.

In the case of Murcia it would be "especially useful", because "the resulting compost could be distributed between the user and the City Council, which could use it for the regeneration of land."

In fact, "the protocol should be developed from the municipal authorities with the collaboration of users, users and environmental groups".

According to Ramos, this is one more example of the many proposals that are approved by the Plenary and that the Government Team keeps systematically in a drawer.
