The City Council's special cleaning device continues working until January 20 (09/01/2019)

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, directed by Rebeca Pérez, continues to carry out the special street cleaning device after the Christmas holidays, reinforcing the usual tasks with extraordinary services for the municipality to remain in perfect condition.

During the next ten days the cleaning tasks will continue, in which 7 people are working.

The places where these intensive works have been carried out have been the Glorieta de España, where the Christmas market was located, Trapería and adjacent, Santo Domingo-Besabé street (with the Santa Claus house), the commercial area of ​​Avenida Libertad, Plaza Circular (with the large Christmas tree), Alfonso XPérez Casas (handicraft market), Alfonso X-Plaza Preciosa, Artillery Barracks (merchants' Christmas fair), ending at the Plaza de La Merced.

In total, 8,000 square meters have been cleaned.

These works of adaptation of the roads consist mainly of the application of hidrolimpieza and scrubbing of pavements in detail.

To this end, the entire surface of the action areas is cleaned, with special detail in corners and singular areas normally contaminated by liquid residues.

"During these days of festivities, the cleaning service of the City Council has been working for the city to be in optimal conditions, and we continue to do so during these days.The special device will be active until January 20. Murcia is a city with a lot of activity, for which thousands of Murcia and visitors walk every day, and we must keep it perfect so that we can all enjoy it, "said Rebeca Pérez.

The City Council reinforces the cleaning service at Christmas

The cleaning device that has been active this Christmas has been composed of 5 workers and 4 auxiliary vehicles and sweeper motorcycle, which have joined the ordinary service in areas of more influx of citizens.

To these works is added an operator with auxiliary vehicle, from 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm, by manual sweeping.

In December the collection of waste from the center was also expanded with a collector and two workers, motivated by the increase in commercial and hotel activity these days.

To cope with the increase in paper and cardboard these days, the collection of this waste has been reinforced in the stores in the area.

The current collection schedule has been extended by establishing the service from 09:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., in order to meet the increase in commercial activity.

Another team, during that time, has carried out revision work in the most emblematic areas of the historic center of the city and in Libertad avenue, Plaza Circular and Santo Domingo.

Due to the increase of the commercial activity in the neighborhood of Carmen, a cleaning reinforcement has also been planned in the afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

During the days of Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve service was reinforced in order to adequately address the high number of waste and dirt that is generated in such a short space of time.

The device for these locations was composed of 21 workers with 17 mechanical means (street sweepers, vacuum cleaners, motor-sweepers and mini-collectors) in addition there were 18 containers of 240 additional liters, which are placed as bins in Bartolomé Pérez House, Plaza Santa Catalina and Plaza de las Flores.

In the San Silvestre will also apply cleaning on the route, before and after it.

Finally, after the traditional procession of the Three Wise Men, there was a team composed of 14 workers plus 4 road sweepers and two auxiliary vehicles that after the parade, as if it were another car, left the city clean immediately .

The environmental awareness has had a space in the Christmas Market of La Glorieta where visitors have learned the correct guidelines on urban hygiene and the importance of managing waste correctly through workshops.

Lili, the Eco Elfa, have been present at the Mercadillo.

At Christmas, the Ecoparque located in San Ginés and the mobile Ecopoints have continued at their usual times, except for marked holidays.

The service of collection of furniture and old junk has also been maintained.
