Health, safety and street cleaning set up a special device for the All Saints Day (30/10/2018)

Tomorrow and Thursday, 110 police will serve in the surroundings of the Cemetery of Our Father Jesus, where Health has completed this year the process of renewal of the oldest areas and at this time processed the incorporation into the Network of Significant Cemeteries

The City of Murcia has planned a special device in which the cleaning, security and health services participate, in view of the celebration of the All Saints' Day.

In addition, the district transport concessionaire, Latbus, will also adapt the 44C line to the needs of those days.

The Cemetery Our Father Jesus of Espinardo, unique of municipal management of the 33 existing ones in Murcia, has been object during 2018 of diverse projects of improvements impelled by the Concejalía of Sports and Health, that directs Felipe Coello.

Specifically, the actions have been oriented to two fundamental aspects: the maintenance and provision of infrastructure and the cemetery understood as a cultural asset.

Regarding the first of these, the construction of a new area of ​​310 pits and 12 plots of cemetery with the rehabilitation carried out in zone 5 has been carried out.

With this work, the process begun in the 90s, consisting of the administrative processing of the eviction of the evicted areas and their subsequent construction of new units, ends.

In parallel, we proceeded to contract the improvement works of the interior and perimeter pavements of the rest of the areas.

In this way, we have proceeded to the reversion of graves without ownership or with the expired concession and construction of 52 pits in zone 1.

In the same way and after November 1, Aguas de Murcia will begin the renewal of the supply network, whose investment amounts to € 66,550.

Likewise, the consolidation work of the niche / north pavilion is planned.

This year it has also been agreed to hire the service company that will manage the next years under the municipal guardianship, the burial, exhumation and maintenance of the facilities, which has been awarded for an annual amount of € 405,058.33.

Network of significant cemeteries

Regarding the cemetery as a cultural asset, the City Council has extended the agreement signed with the Murcian Society of Anthropology and as a result of it the guided tours have been promoted, incorporating new contents.

The next ones will be 'A first walk through the cemetery', on November 18, and 'The funeral architecture at the NPJ Cemetery', on November 4 and December 2.

Another relevant event is the celebration of the day "Funeral Culture in Europe", which begins this afternoon with the presence of leading experts in the field.

The adhesion of the city of Murcia to the "European Network of Significant Cemeteries", at this moment in process, and the presentation of the new guide "Murcian women in memory" also stands out.

Security and traffic regulation

For its part, Local Police will increase its presence to meet the needs of the many people who come these days to the various cemeteries of the municipality.

For this, the Department of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, directed by Lola Sanchez, has arranged in the cemetery of "Our Father Jesus" the number of agents necessary from last Saturday until November 1, and on Wednesday and Thursday will lend service a total of 110 policemen.

To facilitate access and security in this venue to the maximum, the following measures will be adopted:

- You can enter the interior parking lot of the cemetery through the West and North doors

- To exit these same doors can be used.

- The doors located in the South area will remain closed for vehicles

- On November 1 will be signaled conveniently the accesses mentioned by informative Posters

On the other hand, service will also be provided in the different flower selling points: Plaza de Santa Catalina, Plaza de Las Flores, Pedro Pedro Conesa street, and the door of the cemetery "Nuestro Padre Jesús";

in the same way, in the Glorieta de Espańa, where the bus stop will be located: "Special Day of All Saints", on November 1.

Cemeteries of districts

Also, tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday there will be special attention in the cemeteries of districts, where 265 police of the Decentralization Unit will intervene to regulate traffic, close the passage of certain vehicles or prohibit parking in specific areas, according to needs, to facilitate both the accesses and the parking of vehicles.

The cleaning device has also been reinforced in access to cemeteries, in addition to the installation of more than 30 reinforcing containers, in addition to the usual ones, to facilitate the deposit of waste after cleaning.

Regarding public transport, Latbus, the concessionaire of the district lines, has increased the operation of the 44C line.

Thus, on October 31 there will be a special service between El Rollo and the cemetery of Nuestro Padre Jesús, with departures from Murcia from 10:15 am to 4:45 pm, every 30 minutes, and return from 11 am until 18.45 hours

On Thursday, a special service is planned from 8.30 am, between Glorieta and Nuestro Padre Jesús cemetery.
