The University of Murcia offers Murcia the opportunity to contribute to the creation of future European employment policies (30/10/2018)

The Faculty of Labor Sciences of the UMU will become this Wednesday, October 31, on the stage of a process of reflection on the future of European policies on employment, under the slogan `We talk about Europe, we talk about employment ' .

To carry out the day, which will take place from 9 to 18 hours in the faculty, will be enabled a series of working tables in which the citizens themselves will address some of the most relevant issues for the future of the European policies on employment.

These work spaces, formed by groups of between 15 and 20 people, will be developed outdoors and in an informal environment to encourage participation and spontaneity.

The local dimension of employment policies, the mobility of workers, employment in rural areas, the capacity to transform the labor market of smart cities, the new phenomena of precarization and vulnerability, or the convenience of a regulatory framework unified in labor law will be some of the issues that will guide the participation of citizens.

To make the debate more agile, a group of UMU researchers has prepared a series of materials that will serve as a starting point, in which the situation of each of the proposed dimensions will be reflected.

The objective is for the experts to focus exclusively on their role in favoring dialogue and moderating the session, so that the citizens themselves are the protagonists of the consultation without any type of interference.

The importance of these citizen consultations is that the results of this process, which is being carried out throughout Europe, will be sent to the European Council that will take place in December of this year.

In this way, participants will have the real opportunity to build, from their own position as a European citizen, the policies that will affect us in the future.

This project has been promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in collaboration with the University of Murcia and the City of Murcia.
