The councilman of Cambiemos Murcia, Sergio Ramos, today asked the municipal government to review the new contract for the conservation, maintenance and restoration of gardens and trees, whose budget exceeds 46 million euros without VAT, in order to introduce measures that favor the concurrence of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in accordance with the new Public Sector Contracts Law.
Ramos explained that although the contract is divided into seven lots, one of them receives 76 percent of the budget, about 36 million, which hinders the participation of smaller companies and also complicates the work of control of the City due to its magnitude in terms of compliance with the contractual clauses and the quality of the public service that citizens receive.
To avoid this type of situation, the mayor of the municipal training has proposed that this lot is divided by geographical areas of the municipality, depending on the number of gardens of each of them, thus favoring the transparency of information and work on the boards municipal.
In addition, Cambiemos Murcia has criticized that the government team has processed this "macrocontract" of urgency, leaving only 30 days for the submission of offers.
"There is little time for small and medium-sized companies to compete on equal terms with a large one," said Ramos, who believes that "we should have left more time" to guarantee the participation of SMEs.
