Navarro assures that the special plan of the Malecón will go ahead when it has the agreement of neighbors, municipal boards and political groups (29/10/2018)

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Vegetable Garden, Antonio Navarro, explained that 'the statements made by Ciudadanos regarding the special plan for the protection of the Malecón do not fit reality and are demagogic, opportunistic and populist, showing that they are not ready to govern this city and the place that corresponds to them is the opposition. '

"Not only do we not intend to harm any neighbor, but we have sought and instrumentalized mechanisms not to do so," adds Navarro, who insists that "the plan we want to approve is the one that is best to protect the Malecón for all Murcians, without political opportunisms such as the one shown by Ciudadanos, solving problems as a priority and will go ahead when there is agreement among neighbors, municipal councils and political groups. '

In this sense, the plan includes all existing homes, keeping them in their current state or being able to be remodeled or replaced adapting to the aesthetic standards of the plan.

In addition, the City Council has a line of aid to any owner who wants to fix their facades.

'The landscape that surrounds the Malecón, and which we intend to preserve in this transition zone, is the Huerta', Navarro recalls and, in order not to harm any affected owner, the possibility is taken, at their exclusive option, to offer their parcels in exchange or acquisition to the City Council, or maintain them with their current agricultural use.

It also plans to improve the accessibility of the area with various alternatives for the adaptation of areas and perimeter roads to action, with planned investments to facilitate circulation, as has been reiterated on several occasions.

Antonio Navarro has explained 'ad nauseam that traffic will not be cut at the intersection of the Cuatro Piedras after the approval of the special plan and without the consent of the neighbors'.

Hunting for votes

The head of Urbanism stresses that 'before launching to hunt votes, Citizens presented a motion on the Malecon from which they seem to have forgotten', he adds, in which they urged to solve as soon as possible the distorting elements of the walk.

In this sense, the demolition project of the municipal nurseries has already been drafted, measures have been included in the special plan to resolve the distorting elements and forums and debates have been held to channel the aspirations of all the neighbors, institutions, groups and communities. associations involved.

The plan proposes aesthetic measures of adaptation of the buildings, as well as restrictions on the construction and maintenance of the agricultural landscape in their environment.

Obviously it is a Protection Plan of one of the most important and unique monuments of the municipality.

The Department has made an unprecedented participatory process: explanations in the Palacio Almudí, debates and analysis in the Municipal Board of the Arboleja, meetings with groups and associations, neighbors, professional associations, affected, political groups and any citizen who has been interested in this plan.

Provided in the General Plan

This Special Plan is foreseen with this delimitation in the current General Plan, with the landscape protection of the stretch included between the Marists and the end of the Walk and this was approved at the time and has been understood by the DG of Culture.

The plan proposes the best preservation of the Monument, having obtained the positive report of the General Directorate of Culture and other institutions such as the College of Architects or the Surveyors.
