The orange formation maintains its position of not suppressing the crossing of the Four Stones because many neighbors are harmed, refuses to impose obligations on the owners of buildings and plots located on the Malecón, without any help, and affects the need to include the entire BIC, not just part of the Walk
Ciudadanos has registered five allegations to the Special Plan for the Protection of the Malecon because it violates the interests of the neighbors and departs from the recommendations of the Directorate General of Cultural Property and the reports made by technicians on traffic and mobility.
"Last week we already informed the neighbors that, due to a question of responsibility only as a political party and as a Murcian, we are going to defend these allegations up to the last consequences," stressed the mayor Carlos Peñafiel, who added that "the Malecón we want to enjoy all Murcia, but without harming the neighbors of the area. "
The first of the allegations made refers to the breach of the legal deadlines established for its drafting, "had to have been drafted in 2007 and not in 2016 as has occurred."
Regarding the second claim, it coincides with the indications of the Directorate General of Cultural Assets on the need to act throughout the BIC and not just on part of the Paseo del Malecon.
With the third of the allegations, Ciudadanos maintains its position of not suppressing the crossing of the Cuatro Piedras crossing because "it is not an effective and accurate technical solution, it is isolated to the residents of La Arboleja and La Albatalía and negatively influences the traffic of neighborhoods like San Antón, San Andrés and San Antolín ".
In this sense, Peñafiel has stressed that "the suppression of traffic in this crossing proposed by the City Council has been made without taking into account the technical studies on traffic and mobility commissioned and without making a real diagnosis of the negative consequences of this decision for the neighbors of the zone ".
Buildings and plots
The fourth and fifth allegations affect the obligations that the Special Plan imposes on the owners of buildings (about twenty homes) and plots located on the Malecón (40,000 m2 of urban garden and 60,000 m2 of exclusive agricultural use).
On the one hand, explained the mayor of Cs, "states that all buildings and facilities compatible with the management must undergo environmental adaptation in a period ranging from 3 to 6 years;
and that affect both boundaries, roofs, materials and coatings and even facade colors ".
"Regarding the owners of plots, he continued," it forces them to cultivate them for the sake of their important repercussion on the landscape perception of the Paseo del Malecón surroundings, without taking into account solutions to the irrigation problem ".
"In both cases these measures burden the owners who will not receive any kind of help, incentive or financial compensation for the consistory, and this in spite of serving the general interest," Councilor Orange has warned.
Thus, Peñafiel stressed that it is important and essential to protect the Malecón.
"Let's not forget that it is a monument and as such we should protect it, but along with the plan's protection plans, certain actions have been added, which are the ones we claim and which are not aligned with the protection at all."
"In fact, it seems to us very bold and irresponsible that this plan, as it is drafted, is intended to be approved in reference to the general interest.
From our point of view, the most interested in the Malecón being well and in top condition are the residents of La Arboleja and La Albatalía, who live there and spend every day on the Malecón several times.
With this Plan what they do is seriously harm them, "he concluded.
