Nine technological leaders compete to develop the smart city project 'MiMurcia' (29/10/2018)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, announced today that "a total of nine tenderers, Temporary Unions integrated by leading national and international companies, specialized in technological development and innovation, opt for the public tender for the most ambitious digital urban transformation in Spain , with the tender of the 'MiMurcia' project, which Red.es will resolve in the coming weeks ".

José Ballesta announced this milestone in the tender of the smart city project during the inauguration of the Murcia Smart 2018 day, the forum on technological innovation applied to cities, jointly organized by the City of Murcia and La Verdad, and which has welcomed this morning the Almudí Palace.

To implement the 'MiMurcia' project, the City Council is currently immersed in the process of deploying Smart City technology systems and devices.

"More than 300 indicators and intelligent systems will be distributed throughout Murcia over the coming months and will allow to know what is the status of the parkings and parking meters of the city, the level of pollution in real time of the different areas, the levels Noise or traffic situation to avoid traffic jams;

At the same time services will be offered to improve the daily life of Murcia, as WiFi network in squares, parks and gardens or systems with bluetooth beacons that report directly on the mobile offers of local businesses, "explained the mayor .

The technological development of the city of Murcia, in terms of infrastructure, establishment of channels and new forms of connectivity, is defined in the Smart City project 'MiMurcia', beneficiary of the 'II Call for Smart Cities' of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of the Government of Spain, with a budget of 8 million euros.

"From this municipal Corporation we believe that technology can not only make the city more efficient and more sustainable, but also more equitable and equal, breaking down social, cultural and other barriers.

Therefore, our concept of Smart City is to put these technological advances at the service of people to improve their quality of life and the benefits of the public services they receive, "said José Ballesta.

The 'smart' brain of the city

CEUS (the Single Monitoring Center) will be the control panel of all the new intelligent systems interconnected in a network that includes the 'MiMurcia' project.

It will be an open door space that will serve as a 'testing laboratory' in which the technological solutions relating to the different management areas of the municipality will be tested: traffic and public transport, parks and gardens, safety on public roads, etc .;

a meeting point for citizens, companies and other Administrations, where technological solutions for the municipality will be presented.
