The UMU presents the III Conference on the Spanish University Theater, dedicated to the memory of José Antonio Aliaga (25/10/2018)

The University of Murcia presented on Thursday the III Conference on the Spanish University Theater, led by César Oliva, professor emeritus of the UMU, and Javier Huerta, professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.

The meeting is being held on October 24, 25 and 26 in the auditorium of the Rector Sabater building.

The conference is contextualized within the framework of a research project funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities on the so-called TEUs, university theater groups scattered throughout Spain that reached their peak between the 40s and 60s. In a marked context Because of the ravages of war, with many dramatists, directors and exiled actors, the TEUs supposed a ball of oxygen for the Spanish scene.

As explained by Javier Huerta, these were the only schools where some of the best post-war actors could be trained, such as María Jesús Valdés, Valeriano Andrés, Nati Mistral or José Luis López Vazquez, among others.

Throughout the three days of the meeting, some of the key figures linked to the TEUs will be studied: directors such as Luis González Robles;

playwrights such as Julián Ayesta, Gonzalo Torrente Ballester, Lauro Olmo, Faustino González Aller or Agustín Embuena;

or actresses like Maite Blasco or Carmen Maura.
