The UCAM will take more than thirty activities to the Week of Science (24/10/2018)

Researchers and students of the Catholic University of Murcia will be present this weekend in the Botanical Garden of the Malecón with 11 stands in which they will carry out different activities to bring science to the public

The Malecón Botanical Garden will be dyed blue next weekend - October 26 to 28 - with the celebration of Science Week.

The Catholic University will have 11 stands distributed throughout the campus, in which about sixty researchers from the UCAM will develop activities to bring science to all audiences.

Experts in the areas of Medicine, Nursing, Sports, Nutrition, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Communication, Podiatry and Physiotherapy, will initiate the youngest in the scientific universe knowing what is behind the emotions in brain activity, attending to the simulation of a birth to experience the birth of a new life or even finding out how much they will measure when they grow up.

In this annual meeting will also be the university radio- iRadio- in which the youngest will be able to intervene together with the experts of the UCAM to openly expose their scientific concerns, the attractive culinary activities in which to learn the nutritional values ​​of what we eat or capture the iron that some foods like cereals contain.

In this way, the UCAM joins the event organized by the Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment together with the Seneca Foundation.

Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor of Research of the UCAM, considers this event a unique opportunity to take science to the streets and show the population the scientific and technological developments that are taking place in our Region.

He adds that this activity is also very important to promote scientific vocations among young people, since "they can not want to be scientists if they have not had any contact with science".

In the UCAM, Murcia institution that in recent years has multiplied by 10 the number of research projects developed and by 60% the scientific productivity derived from them "we are delighted to show the Murcian society our national and international projects, which they deal with subjects as diverse as: circular economy, regeneration of contaminated water, development of healthy foods, regeneration of organs and tissues, development of dual career models for athletes or advances in high sports performance ".
