The City of Murcia has begun with the drafting of 20 projects that will be developed in the neighborhoods of La Paz and El Carmen thanks to the Urban DNA project that these areas of Murcia are living for a total work amount of 1,258,395 euros.
There will be three major projects for La Paz with an amount of 413,805 euros and 17 for El Carmen with a value of 844,590 euros, but soon this list will grow and so will materialize much of the proposals and petitions of the neighbors who exposed in the process Participation that took place last June.
"In La Paz, three large squares with three pergolas will be adapted.
In them the neighbors spend their day to day and share moments of coexistence with each other, for that reason, as they themselves have transferred it to us, we are going to restore them and create new zones.

This remodeling of the squares in the Polígono de la Paz will mean the improvement of the pavement, the pedestrianization of some asphalt cloths and the installation of urban furniture in addition to performing various actions of decorative treatments.
Also in this neighborhood is going to write a third project to achieve road opening connecting the Peace with Avenue of Fame, opening the neighborhood to the center.
It is about recovering the connectivity shot, a connectivity that has gradually been lost and that has caused the neighborhood to be encapsulated and sometimes isolated.
The intervention consists of the demolition of a strip of pavement and removal of planters, with paved asphalt, the placement of zebra crossing and a traffic light to promote permeability in the neighborhood and its access to it.
17 initial projects for El Carmen
As for the neighborhood of El Carmen, the projects that are going to be written, focus on the requests of neighbors such as the pedestrianization of the outer part of the supply market, the improvement of the environment of the Labor Integration Center, the improvement in the access of the Losteau school and Herma school, and the improvement of pedestrian connectivity on Clementes street with the Pintor Ballester square.
In the Buenos Aires area of ​​this neighborhood a homogeneous public space will be created, with the unification of the pedestrian pavement, the homogenization of the lighting and the planting of trees and vegetation to adapt the area, improving the well-being of the residents who live there.
Likewise, areas in the Buenos Aires area will be pedestrianized, a public space will be created in the street Sculptor Nicolás De Bussi with Sogueadores street, pedestrianizing sections of road and incorporating green areas, and a leisure space will be created in the river area in the surroundings of the Molinos del Río.
The Mariano Ballester Square will be improved, accessible and safe itineraries will be created in the neighborhood to guarantee the mobility conditions in certain routes, and the extension of the José María Párraga Plaza Pintor will be strengthened and its pedestrian connectivity will be improved with public furniture and improvement of green areas.
The plaza and park of Cecilio Pineda will be transformed along with the Camachos plaza, the surroundings of the Senior Center will be adapted to improve the contact between this center and its urban environment, and a network of industrial chimneys called "urban periscopes" will be created to remember the industrial past of this neighborhood
And finally, a network consisting of 5 points will be created, called the 'network of open rooms' in which the functional and aesthetic equipment of a series of small rooms for special cultural uses is proposed, with the aim of transferring the numerous cultural spaces from the neighborhood to the street.
This last project is based on the existence of small urban points created by the presence of transformation centers and other urban infrastructures, and these spaces will be changed to be adapted to their exterior as a room of use for the cultural facilities of the Artillery Barracks, with new lighting, fencing and signage adapted to your purposes.
