Murcia City Council will be present at the Science Week (24/10/2018)

The City of Murcia participates, for the second consecutive year, in the Science Week that will take place from October 26 to 28 in the botanical garden of the Malecón.

In this edition, the City of Murcia has prepared numerous activities on its stand so that all attendees can learn about the MiMurcia project being carried out by the Department of Modernization of Urban Administration and Development directed by José Guillén.

"It is a unique opportunity for the young people of the municipality to know the new projects that are being carried out and that they can experiment with them.The students are the future of the new technologies, they are the ones that will develop new applications, artificial intelligence and will carry out the new mechanisms to make all citizens move forward and have a better quality of life, in which our focus is placed, that is why the City of Murcia strives to participate in the Murcia of the future "highlighted José Guillen.

Among the projects that will be presented is Virtea, Artificial Intelligence Recognition, Virtual Old Jail Tour, Educational Video Games and STV Demo: AI in irrigation.

Virtea

Today the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects 1 in every 62 people in the world.

Autistic children are comfortable following certain patterns and routine tasks.

Therefore, when faced with situations that are not usual for them, they may have episodes of stress, fear, fear, panic or trauma.

Some of these situations can even be the daily life of the child, such as going to the doctor, cutting his hair, brushing his teeth, taking a trip, etc.

VirTEA has developed an application that helps the autistic child to face a situation that causes fear or discomfort through Virtual Reality, reducing fear or stress and improving the quality of children and their families.

This project is being carried out by the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation directed by Conchita Ruiz.

The schedule of this activity is Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm.

Artificial intelligence recognition

Attendees can try artificial intelligence applied to images and videos.

Through this platform you can identify thousands of objects and scenes.

It also analyzes videos and identifies specific activities.

Regarding facial recognition, it allows to identify a person in a photo or video by using their own private repository.

It also analyzes the attributes of the face that appear in images and videos and that determine the range of age, happiness, eye opening, lenses and facial hair.

In the videos, it is also possible to measure the reconstruction of the chronology of a person's emotions.

In addition, you can record the journey of each person by using Amazon Rekognition in video files.

Another peculiarity is to identify celebrities in libraries of images and videos to catalog footage and photos in case of use of the marketing, advertising and multimedia sectors.

The schedule of this activity is Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 2:30 pm.

360º Virtual Tour

Old jail in Murcia

It consists in the realization of a virtual tour through 360º images where the rooms of the old provincial prison of Murcia are visited for viewing on mobile devices and PCs through Virtual Reality viewers.

The project of recovery of the Old Prison is being carried out by the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services directed by Rebeca Pérez.

Educational video games

The video game development sector is booming and Sons of a Bit is the leading company in the region in this field.

Throughout the weekend, will be present at the week of science and technology to show exclusively its latest developments at the stand of the City of Murcia.

The most outstanding projects are Islabomba, Kluest, or Death Epileptic Pixel Origins.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, you can try the latest Islabomba for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One until 2:00 p.m.

At 12 noon, you can attend any of the 3 15-minute passes that will be held on Kluest.

And from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, you can try the latest version of Death Epileptic Pixel Origins.
