Murcia will recognize the excellence of the Arrixaca Transplant Unit with the award of the Gold Medal of the city (22/10/2018)

The Arrixaca Transplant Unit will be distinguished with the city's Gold Medal in recognition of decades of solidarity work for the benefit of all Murcia, always characterized by excellence and rigor in its activity.

This has been one of the agreements adopted this morning by the Board of Spokespersons, chaired by the mayor, José Ballesta.

For the third consecutive year, the Arrixaca has become a leader in organ donation, after closing 2017 with a record in transplants.

And the Region of Murcia is the fifth most solidary community, with 66 donors per million inhabitants, a rate twenty points more than the national average.

This excellent result is the result, fundamentally, of the work carried out at the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, which for the third consecutive year is the health center of all of Spain with more organ donors.

Specifically, in 2017 there were 83 donations of the 97 donations that were made throughout the Region.

The implementation of an asystole donation program and another for patients at high risk of rejection, has had much to do with these figures.

In the ranking of activity by hospitals, the Arrixaca is the leader, occupying the first position in the three possible variables: maximum number of donors;

with more donors in brain death;

and with a maximum number of donors in asystole.

A collective work, developed by doctors, nurses, assistants etc., where Professor Pascual Parrilla has played a fundamental role, who after a thousand transplants has put an end to his expertise in the operating rooms, but will continue to train the surgeons of the future .

20 years of music

On the other hand, the Board of Spokesmen has approved the process of awarding the Silver Medal to the Parrandboleros, which will be 20 years old in May 2019 and, since its inception, have been named Murcia all over the world.

His music, romantic and endearing, is the result of the fusion of voices formed in long nights of revelry, serenade and bolero with young masters of music, string players and Latin percussion.

His excellent arrangements and sound bring to the music scene a new style in Latin music.

Seven friends decided to create a popular Latin music group, with extensive training, combining string instruments, plectrum, double bass and Latin percussion.

To achieve this, new members were incorporated until reaching the current formation, with the incorporation of the wind section.

After the national presentation at the Teatro Romea on May 19, 1999, they have achieved important successes in their more than 300 concerts throughout the national geography, and Latin America.

In 2015, they also starred in the first musical speech of the Feria de Murcia in Plaza Belluga.

Distinctions to Mari Trini and the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega

Both recognitions are added to other two previously approved: the singer-songwriter Mari Trini, as Favorite Daughter, and the Gold Medal of the City to the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega.

María Trinidad Pérez from Miravete-Millé and Pascual de Riquelme, 'Mari Trini', was a successful artist both in Spain and in Latin America, developing a career as a singer-songwriter in which she highlighted her contribution to the struggle for equality between men and women. women.

They also propose the delivery of the Gold Medal of the City to the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega, after more than half a century of history and defense of the popular culture of Murcia.

Created in Bacons Bridge in 1963, it was moved to the neighborhood of Carmen in 1972.

After half a century of disseminating popular culture and folklore from Murcia, it has more than a thousand people associated with it and a history that has passed through five generations of Murcians.
