The facade of the Moneo building will be illuminated in pink tomorrow for the Day of Breast Cancer (18/10/2018)

The facade of the Moneo building will light pink tomorrow, October 19, on the occasion of the International Day of Breast Cancer.

With this initiative, made at the proposal of the Department of Sports and Health, directed by Felipe Coello, Murcia joins other Spanish cities that will illuminate its most emblematic buildings of this color.

In this way it is intended to pay tribute to all women who suffer from this disease, or have suffered, and show support in their daily struggle, while sensitizing society and creating spaces for participation that tend to strengthen people with respect to the forms of prevention, treatment and control of cancer.

It is estimated that breast cancer causes 1.38 million new cases and 458 thousand deaths each year worldwide.

In Spain, around 32,825 new breast cancers are diagnosed each year (Data from breast cancer in Spain 2018).

The international day of breast cancer seeks to raise society's awareness of the importance of research and early diagnosis of this disease.

Breast cancer is the most frequent type of tumor in women since 1 in 8 women will have breast cancer throughout their lives.
