Murcia joins the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Parks and Gardens (09/10/2018)

The City of Murcia is present on the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Parks and Gardens, AEPJP.

This morning the incorporation of Murcia has been made public to this association that will allow to promote the parks and gardens of the city, encourage training, lead the forums of interest, as well as to value the management of professionals in the sector.

"This new incorporation to the association will involve an exchange of experiences and views of professionals from all over Spain, which in our case Murcia will be represented by a municipal engineer, Enrique Huelves." In this way, Murcia will strengthen its status as a national benchmark in public green spaces "has highlighted José Guillén, who also explains that" our city lives on the street and the green areas of the municipality are essential for our citizens, the good weather makes parks and gardens a place for meeting and leisure of our neighbors. The National Congress of Parks and Gardens will be held in Murcia In addition, Murcia will host in 2020 the National Congress of Parks and Public Gardens of AEPJP.

Around 500 experts in parks and gardens, including the most prominent in Spain, will visit Murcia in April 2020 to attend the congress that will take place in the Auditorium.

This event is a recognition of the immense work that is being done in Murcia Rio, as a benchmark for a transforming project of the city through gardening, or the Spring Gardens that are attractive for tourism and the recovery of our cultural roots .

Murcia now becomes a reference model for all the national gardening that will come to know these projects.

It is also a recognition of the work done by all the workers who take care of and maintain the parks and gardens of the municipality on a daily basis.

The city has multiple parks and gardens where you can make technical visits, some of them of special interest such as the Floridablanca Garden, declared a Cultural Interest in the Historic Garden category in 2017, or the Malecón garden and promenade, BIC since 1982. Murcia also has the last urban vestige of what was a Hispanic-Muslim garden in the Huerto López Ferrer.

The activity focuses on the more than 3,000 parks and gardens in the metropolitan area and the 55 districts that make up the almost 900 km2 of the municipality of Murcia.

With more than 117,000 trees that depend on gardening services, and more than 15,000 units of equipment, Murcia is ready to enjoy the outdoors, and to enjoy the experts from all over Spain.
