Two hundred students of the UMU come to donate their blood to contribute to the challenge of the Day of the Healthy Universities (04/10/2018)

The University Social Center of the University of Murcia has been this Thursday a coming and going of students who have wanted to participate in the activities of the Day of Healthy Universities.

The challenge was to contribute to 5,000 blood donations in one morning in university centers across the country.

The staff of the Regional Blood Donation Center has been working for the first time and has treated 205 people willing to donate their blood, of which 80 are young people who have been encouraged to do so for the first time.

The queues have been permanent throughout the day.

According to the data available to the Regional Blood Donation Center, the University of Murcia has been one of the university centers that has registered the most donations in the country in this event organized by the Spanish Network of Healthy Universities (REUS).

Those who have participated in this solidarity exercise have taken as a prize the fruits and vegetables that the organizations and participating companies have contributed to help with the second challenge of the day: to encourage the consumption of fruit among the youngest.

Hundreds of students have gone through the different exhibitors placed in the Social Center and many of them have taken photographs eating fruit for a contest on social networks.

In the Day of Healthy Universities have collaborated the Ministry of Health, the City of Murcia, Alimer, Fecoam, Proexport, Expoáguilas, Asaja, Ganbibio, AMG and AMC.

The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, visited the University Social Center and encouraged all young people to become donors to help save lives.
