Martínez-Oliva: The number of contracts managed this year has increased by 30% compared to 2017' (02/10/2018)

"It is unfortunate that Peñaranda is unaware that in 2018 the amount of the awards has increased by 60% and that more than 350 files are processed every year, some of them with more than a hundred bidders.

This is a City Council that works and is the engine of the local economy. '

The head of Finance, Recruitment and Urban Mobility stresses that 90% of the claims filed with the Central Court of Contractual Resources are resolved by giving the reason to the City Council 'so we should not do so badly'

'The City of Murcia is an administration that works and represents an engine for the local economy through the nearly 4,000 suppliers with which it has contracts for works and services', explained Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, councilor of Finance, Hiring and Urban Mobility, responding to the socialist Sebastián Peñaranda.

Despite the entry into force of the new contract law, with the problems that it has entailed for all public administrations, and despite the implementation of a new electronic contracting program (Murcia City Council was one of the first has started it), this year 30% more files have been processed compared to the same period of 2017, with an amount of the awards a 60% higher.

The contracting service of the City Council manages more than 350 annual records, and some of them are attended by more than a hundred companies.

"With his demonstrations, Peñaranda demonstrates once again that he does not know the scale of the work carried out by the officials, his absolute dedication and professionalism contrasted and, of course, he seems not to be aware of the importance that this City Council represents in the local economy and in the hundreds of supplier companies, "says the mayor Popular.

He insists that although Peñaranda has been attending the recruitment tables for more than three years, he gives the impression that he has not noticed that there are contractual procedures that require administrative management but are not examined in the meetings of the board, as This is the case of extensions or contractual modifications, among others. '

Likewise, Martínez-Oliva considers it regrettable that a councilor criticizes the fact that citizens present appeals in the courts when they understand that their interests have been injured since this is a state of law.

In any case, the councilor for Finance, Recruitment and Urban Mobility points out that 90% of the claims filed with the Central Court of Contractual Resources are resolved by giving the reason to the City Council 'so we should not do so badly', he stresses.

For all these reasons, the statements of the socialist councilman are only understood as an attempt to 'justify the failure of the motion he presented to the plenary session last week, where he practically remained alone and did not win the support of his closest parties, which they also interpreted his proposal as a legal nonsense and nonsense. "

Finally, Martínez-Oliva urges Peñaranda to 'assist in the future to the recruitment tables with more interest than has been demonstrated so far, where he remains a listener and is dedicated to taking notes for his press releases'.
