Nine green areas and 16 new playgrounds for El Palmar and La Alberca within the Montevida urbanization (02/10/2018)

Taking advantage of the works, a collector has been built that crosses under the A-30 and to which the two ravines that once flowed into the urban area of La Alberca end up, providing this area with maximum security against torrential rains.

It has created a neighborhood leisure garden of over 1,000 m2 and a bike path of 7.3 kilometers that joins the two districts with a passage under the highway, next to the Cañada Real.

The landscaping has led to the planting of 5,800 trees, the addition of 64,300 m² of green areas and 5,000 m² of grass meadow.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilors of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, and Urban Planning, Environment and Garden, Antonio Navarro, visited today the works completed in the surroundings of Montevida, where they have been enabled nine large green areas and a total of 16 new playgrounds.

The event was attended by the president of the Fuertes Group, Tomás Fuertes, to which the developer company of the urbanization, Profusa, belongs.

The landscape project has led to the creation of a total of nine green areas covering some 64,300 m², as well as the planting of 5,800 trees (4,000 pine trees in the area and 1,800 specimens of different species in the development) and 5,000 m² of grass meadow .

In addition, 16 playgrounds for different ages with rubber pavement, candle-covering systems to generate shade and biosaludable spaces for the elderly have been set up.

In total there are 215,000 square meters, between green areas and itineraries, which are incorporated into this environment for the enjoyment of the neighbors.

"The actions will directly benefit this new population center that connects the hamlets of La Alberca and El Palmar, favoring the development of this environment that has the new Local Police barracks, as well as new commercial areas and facilities, favoring the activity and employment in the southern area of the city, "said José Ballesta.

Vegetable garden and bicycle path

It has also created a recreation area for domestic animals of 2,900 m² and a leisure garden with an area of 1,050 m², prepared for growing in 15 plots of 70 m², equipped with irrigation and tool shed.

These areas are considered recreational spaces in the interior of the urbanization, as well as in the La Alberca area, separated from the public mountain and the A-30 motorway, where passable routes have been created and a bike path of 7, 3 km, which connects the two sides of the highway by a lower passage.

Another notable technological addition is the installation of intelligent streetlights with a remote management system that controls more than 800 luminaires from the municipal offices, whose implementation process is underway.

To guarantee the visual aesthetics of the entire residential complex, 18 batteries of underground containers have been included for recycling solid urban waste.

Within the roads of the urbanization has included the installation of five infrastructures of traffic light regulation.

In addition, in order to reduce the noise pollution generated by traffic on the A-30 motorway, more than 12,000 m² of sound-absorbing screen barriers have been installed.

Collector and storm tank to prevent floods

Taking advantage of the urbanization works in this environment, the works of a collector that crosses under the A-30 and to which the two ravines that previously ended in the urban area of La Alberca, generating flood problems, have been executed.

The catchment of these two ravines has been made by the construction of two rafts with a capacity of 32,000 m³ and 18,000 m³, connected by a collector of 2 km in diameter, providing this area with maximum security against possible torrential rains.

On the other hand and in order to serve as a reserve and storage deposit, a storm tank of 3,500 m³ has been executed.

Another infrastructure of vital importance is the execution of the pipeline of the final section of the Rambla de la Paciencia in order to avoid the flooding of the land to be urbanized, by means of a pipeline of 4 m in diameter, up to the Rambla de Los Ladrones that ends at the Rambla del Puerto

The works have respected the pedestrian traffic of the old Cañada Real de Torreguera as it passes through the urbanization, which has been conditioned with the planting of new trees and areas of stay.

Direct access lane to El Palmar from the A-30

The action has been completed with the construction of a lane with direct access to El Palmar from the highway, which runs parallel to the urbanization and which will solve the retentions at the roundabout linking La Alberca and the Virgen de La Arrixaca Hospital, equipped with two lanes in each direction and two roundabouts for the regulation of inbound and outbound traffic.
