Dozens of activities will return to Murcia as a reference in terms of road safety (01/10/2018)

The collaboration between the Association of Driving Schools of the Region of Murcia (Aramur) and the City of Murcia, through the Department of Traffic and Public Safety, will allow another year to celebrate the 'Vial Week', a unique event in Europe that positions Murcia as a benchmark in terms of road safety.

The third edition of 'Vial Week' will take place from Friday 5 to Thursday 11 October, and aims to reduce road accidents 'in itinere', that is, those traffic accidents suffered by the worker to go or return to the place of work, as well as accidents 'on mission', referring to the journeys made by workers outside the company premises during their workday.

In addition, this event seeks to remember the rules of circulation between pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, encourage risk perception and self-care in all roads.

In short, it is a week full of different activities related to road safety and the agents involved.

Since its birth, 'Vial Week' stands out as a nomadic event, and this year it will celebrate its activities in the Rincón Huertano restaurant, the garden of Fame - known as 'the one of the dogs', next to the Avenida Alfonso X- Roundabout of Spain, the Campus of Espinardo, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the headquarters of the Croem employers.

The Provincial Traffic Chief of Murcia, Virginia Jerez, will be responsible for opening on Friday October 5 at 11 am in the hall of celebrations of the Rincón Huertano restaurant this new edition of 'Vial Week', with his presentation 'Causes of accidents and DGT strategies to combat them '.

Later, it will be the turn of the expert in road safety of the CNAE Foundation Roberto Ramos, collaborator of the television program of TVE1 'Seguridad Vital' and 'Arranca en verde', through a talk entitled 'Perceptual and Attentional Processes in the driving'.

This edition will have for the first time the participation of the Executive Director of the most important institution in road safety in Europe, the European Council of Safety in Transportation (ETSC).

Antonio Avenoso will present 'Road safety in the European Union: latest data and proposals from the European Commission'.

At the same time, other alternative sources of energy for vehicles will also be exhibited, under the charge of the Repsol development chief, Miguel Gómez.

Workshops and simulations in the Garden of Fame

From 6 to 11 October, from the youngest to the oldest, as well as institutions and companies, are invited to a set of activities for the good road of citizenship in the urban area of ​​Murcia.

On October 6, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, workshops and simulations will take place 'Experiences on wheels' with the Civil Guard, Local Police, firemen and health services on how the devices for detection work of alcohol and drugs, radars, roadside assistance and action with the wounded.

There will also be simulations of the release of traffic accident victims trapped in the vehicle.

The professors of the driving schools associated with Aramur will give free classes about the 'Roundabouts, how to circulate correctly', there will be 'Efficient driving courses', 'Wheel change courses and chain placement' and, for the younger ones, the activity 'Learning to be drivers', where bikes and tricycles will be used in a closed circuit.

In the Garden of Fame there will also be a rollover simulator, special glasses simulating the effects of alcohol, cannabis and fatigue, days on safe driving on bicycles and driving tests of electric and hybrid vehicles.

In addition to these activities, there will be information points?

of Associations of Victims of Traffic Accidents, as well as of the Blood Hemodonation Center, and companies that develop instruments to improve road safety.

Cycle route 'For road safety'

On Sunday, October 7, from 10.30 am to 1 pm, the cycle route 'Por la seguridad vial' will take place, starting from the Glorieta de España.

Participants will make a tour of the main streets and the garden of Murcia, promoting safe driving in a resort of 15 kilometers.

On Monday, October 8, 'Vial Week' will reach the university community.

From 10:30 am to 1:30 pm there will be a ludic training activity given by road safety expert Roberto Ramos at the Fica.

There will be projections, rollover and driving simulators, as well as special glasses to recreate the sensations of alcohol, cannabis or fatigue.

Blind people at the wheel

One of the main novelties of this edition will arrive on Tuesday, October 9, from 10 am to 11.30 am, also on the university campus.

Together with the ONCE, the professors belonging to Aramur will place dozens of vehicles equipped with double command at the service of a group of blind people in a closed circuit, to give them the possibility of getting behind the wheel for the first time.

In parallel, training courses adapted to disability will also be held in La Fica, in a conference organized by Aramur jointly with the association of traffic victims ASPAYM.

This day will be closed from 12 to 14 hours with a 'Training sessions for professionals' in the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Murcia, with the aim of training safer drivers in the area of ​​the autonomous community.

Blood donation campaign

The social responsibility will have its presence in 'Vial Week' on Wednesday October 10 through a blood donation campaign in the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Murcia, from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

According to the organizers of this week's road safety, "although all efforts are made to ensure that traffic accidents are zero, they continue to exist, and blood donations are necessary, and not only for those injured in traffic accidents, as well for patients in general, "they say.

This day will be donated by the professors of the driving schools associated with Aramur, their students, traffic officials and citizens in general, who "may have this gesture of solidarity that also saves lives."

Road safety at work

On Thursday October 11, 'Vial Week' will move to the headquarters of the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Murcia (Croem), to celebrate from 9.30 to 12.15 hours a theoretical-practical demonstration to the prevention technicians of the associated companies to the employers, so that they promote that the workers attend the courses that will be taught by CNAE Foundation, Aramury Croem to reduce the accidents 'in itínere' and 'on mission'.

This event counts as sponsors with: Grupo Marcos Automoción, Tranvía de Murcia, Grupo Fuertes, University of Murcia and the Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and the Environment.

As well as the collaborators: ONCE, ASPAYM Murcia, Repsol AutoGas, DGT, CNAE Foundation and Croem.

It should be noted that 'Vial Week' will count from 4 to 11 October with two information points in the urban area of ​​Murcia, one located in Plaza Santo Domingo and the other in Avenida de la Libertad -in front of El Corte Inglés.
