The municipal Plenary has unanimously approved a motion presented by the Municipal People's Group and Citizens for the cession of competences in transport services to districts of autonomous ownership.

Thus, the Autonomous Community will be urged to initiate the appropriate regulatory procedure for the cession of the powers of the urban transport of districts to the City of Murcia, as well as the sufficient economic endowment for the effective provision of this service.

Likewise, the Regional Ministry of Public Works will be asked to work with the City Council to address the current situation of the reorganization of interurban public transport and, within the framework of the Regional Transport Master Plan or similar instrument, to collaborate together to adopt actions tending to create a single transport authority of metropolitan nature or area of ​​influence of Murcia, districts and bordering municipalities.

According to the motion, the municipal action "is aimed at presenting the petitions to the CARM, as the current holder of the concession, and trying to promote, in the municipal budgetary margin, collaborative actions to implement new actions that benefit all Murcians Even urban transport is promoted to districts of the Murcia countryside through regional lines such as Los Martínez del Puerto or Corvera, subsidizing stops in lines that go from Murcia to Cartagena, and all, so that they have a way to get to the city of Murcia, or the use of urban transport by more disadvantaged groups, with the same purpose, all the same whether they are residents of the urban area or districts ".

The text recalls that "collaboration agreements have already been formalized to improve lines between districts and Murcia, as is the case of lines 30 and 78, known as Costera Sur, and through this instrument of inter-administrative cooperation, they have begun and other agreements to improve other lines that have previously been discussed by the Transportation Board. "

"All municipal action in the territorial area of ​​the districts, must be in collaboration with the Autonomous Community until the current contractual relationship with the current concessionaire, and that was already communicated by the General Directorate of Transport that would end on December 2 of 2019. "

The motion also states that "with a marked social purpose and with its projection in the budgets for the year 2018, agreed measures have been included for the recovery and development of urban transport beyond what is currently being provided, that is, to advance in a real reordering of urban transport that allows the recovery of lines, frequencies, tariff zoning, environmental and accessibility requirements and as many other needs arise from the study that is being prepared and in parallel, putting certain lines into service ".
