Change Murcia asks the City Council to defend the stabilization of the IMIDA staff before the CARM (22/09/2018)

The councilor of Cambiemos Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, will ask at the next Plenary Session of the City of Murcia the support of all groups to a motion to demand the regional government to stabilize the staff of the Murcian Institute for Agricultural Research and Development and Food (IMIDA), the creation of 48 jobs until 2020 and the increase of the budget directed to this public body.

Around 50 percent of the people who work in research and technical work in IMIDA are in a situation of job instability that, in some cases, has been going on for 20 years, to which must be added the gradual loss of employment since 2007 and the reduction of investments, which accumulate a cut of 23 percent with respect to the budget received in 2008.

For Guerrero, it is an obligation for public administrations to be involved "in a determined manner" in strengthening research, development and innovation in the primary sector and create specialized teams that have sufficient stability to develop their research lines "without the continuous sword of Damocles of the dismissal on their heads "and the precariousness that they have suffered in recent years.

That happens, the councilor added, for supporting the stabilization of the personnel and for the creation of new jobs in all categories and levels throughout 2018, 2019 and 2020, as well as for the increase of chapter 6 of real investments of the IMIDA until reaching the amount that was destined before the beginning of the crisis and, from there, an increase of the budget linked to the increase of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Region of Murcia.
