Cs denounces the lack of involvement of the local government to put in place concrete measures that promote sustainable mobility in Murcia (21/09/2018)

The mayor Paqui Perez regrets that the local government has not planned a single activity that allows parking the car and make use of public transport by reducing the price of tickets on the occasion of World Day without Cars to be held tomorrow Saturday

The mayor of Ciudadanos Paqui Pérez criticizes the lack of political will of Ballesta and his government team in terms of sustainable mobility in the municipality.

"It continues to be painful to see how, year after year, PP announcements about mobility multiply when we are practically left with nothing."

In this way, Perez has lamented that "the local government, for example, has not foreseen any initiative on the occasion of World Day without Cars to be held on Saturday, such as bonuses for using public transport, carry out temporary cuts in traffic in certain streets, among others ".

"Although the mobility, clarified the mayor of Cs," is a question that must be present 365 days a year, we have lost another opportunity to promote public transport within the European Mobility Week, which demonstrates that Ballesta still does not believe in sustainable mobility and without betting on a municipality where public transport and cycling end up moving the car progressively ".

In this sense, Perez recalled that Citizens presented in September 2017 a motion for the annual celebration of the European Mobility Week in order to raise awareness among neighbors and promote good practices.

"However, none of this has been fulfilled, mid-morning activities organized by the Bicycle Office do not help to turn the seventh city of Spain into a truly sustainable municipality, especially, as is the case, without the involvement of the councils, especially Urban Mobility, as has happened in other cities. "

"Let's not forget that 60% of the population lives in districts and they need clear and ambitious initiatives that allow them to leave the car at home and make use of other more sustainable means of transport", he concluded.
