Yesterday, Monday, September 10, Dr. Jesús María Herreros González (Torrelavega, 1,952), Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Health Technology and of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery of the UCAM, died at his home in Pamplona.
Dr. Herreros performed, together with his mentor Ramón Arcas, the first lung and heart transplant carried out in Spain, performed more than 150 heart transplants and was the author of more than 30 books, half a thousand scientific publications and as many communications in international congresses.
It should be noted that his surgical techniques were leading at European level, which earned him international recognition.
