The project foresees the rehabilitation of the right bank of the Segura River as it passes through the city, from Los Molinos del Río to La Fica, with an approximate length of 1,550 meters.

The actions to be developed are, on the one hand, the planting of a great variety of plant species of different sizes, among them Lonicera Biflora .

The planting of trees on the side adjacent to the channeling wall is planned, as well as the planting of shrubs along the entire length.

In addition, irrigation will be provided for their proper development and action is expected on the slope of the mote to try to weaken the growth of invasive species.

It will also be paved in a suitable color for its integration into the natural environment the entire surface on a regular basis to allow the ride.

Fishermen's posts will continue in the same place they currently occupy.

The project has a contract execution budget of 690,321.89 euros, 80% of which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union, within the framework of the Operational Program for Sustainable Growth 2014-2020 , with the DUSI Murcia IT Strategy: Innovation + Tradition.

The expected execution period is four months for the execution of the work, although the actions on the slope of the mote for the elimination of invasive species are expected to develop up to twelve months.

Works of the river walk of 'Murcia Río'

This project of improvement and adaptation of the right bank of the river joins the new pedestrian and cyclist itinerary between the Manterola walkway and the Alameda del Malecón that will have areas of stay and walk, as well as a segregated bike lane.

The project, which has a budget of 3 million euros, includes the creation of a new pedestrian promenade that will project slightly above the river and allow the Segura to be seen.

The green itinerary, which affects an area of 19,825 m 2 , will be used entirely for pedestrian and cyclist use, with family areas of stay and walk and segregated and bidirectional bicycle path, which will be established next to the left bank of the river.

The three ideas that guide this transformative project are to establish a new connection between the city and the Huerta, to open new connections between the Malecón and the river, and to strengthen human and social cohesion.

The connection between these two pedestrian circuits will be articulated through a greenway that will border the current deterrent parking, establishing a circular circuit that will allow to cross the entire mota and return, and which will also integrate the gardens of the Four Stones, which is already open to all Murcia, and the Alameda, whose works are advancing at a good pace.

The action also involves the creation of a mote or platform at the water level on the left bank, at the level of the Manterola footbridge, which will allow the walk along the river and the CHS machinery access, recovering the naturalization and Accessibility to the riverbank.

With a budget of 3 million euros and a deadline of nine months, the riverwalk project is a new impetus to the transformation process of the city in which the City Council works.
